One of the smallest ships cruising the Volga River, the Volga Dream was rebuilt in 2007 and converted from a 200 to a 100 berth ship. As a result, the cabins on board are spacious and comfortable.
The 56 cabins are spread over 4 decks and include standard cabins through to deluxe staterooms all of which have either a window or a porthole to the outside as well as all modern comforts.
The 60 crew members are attentive and friendly and with fewer passengers on board this also means that the on shore excursions are based on small groups with a maximum of 25 people.
The Volga Dream cruises from Moscow to St Petersburg or vice versa over 12 nights/13 days. Cruising along the upper Volga the ship traverses picturesque lakes, rivers and canals taking in ancient towns, villages and remote islands en-route.
Imperial, Platinum and Gold programmes are available with the platinum programme including luxury add-ons and imperial including some tours not available to the general public.
Also available is a 13-day cruise on the Lower Volga travelling from Moscow to Astrakhan.
Of course the main sightseeing takes place on land but there are also on board activities available including cookery demonstrations, Russian language lessons, piano concerts, painting classes and guest speakers who will introduce you to fascinating areas of Russian culture and history.
A river cruise is a superb way to take in the magical cities of Moscow and St Petersburg as well as the picturesque Russian scenery in between and the Volga Dream is, without doubt, the ship to do this on.
