One&Only Nyungwe House

Set amongst the working tea plantation of Gisakura on the edge of Nyungwe National Park, One&Only Nyungwe House offers a one-of-a-kind escape.

With five striking wooden villa clusters making up 22 rooms, the tree-top skimming suites and rooms are secluded in wonderfully untamed surroundings. Generous spaces and contemporary interiors, decorated with Rwandese inspired works of art, make these rooms amongst the trees a serene hub for exciting adventures and wildlife encounters.

The grounds themselves are beautifully tended, making the most of the plantations and the dramatic forest in the background. Nyungwe Forest is a critical site for biodiversity conservation in Rwanda, with more endemic species than in any other forest in the Albertine Rift. All rooms have jungle-facing balconies, creating a haven to watch wildlife.

Activities

Head out on foot to track troops of wild primates, follow colourful orchid trails and identify birds by their melody and ascend peaks to reveal spectacular views of Lake Kivu. Visit with cultures that have thrived for centuries and learn local crafting, help with conservation projects, and take a moonlit tour of nocturnal wildlife and enjoy breath-taking stargazing.

Sustainability

Nyungwe House’s garden-to-plate menu is designed with sustainability at its heart. A range of native produce are grown in their own garden and make up their pantry staples, with other ingredients sourced locally from Gisakura and the surrounding area.
