Camp Kipwe lies in the heart of Damaraland, ideally located a short drive from the local attractions in the area. The camp is nestled amongst an outcrop of giant granite boulders, a stone’s throw away from the dry Aba Huab riverbed where desert-adapted elephants often traverse.
In a country full of spectacular vistas, Camp Kipwe still manages to stand out for its beautiful setting. The camp seems to hide amongst the giant boulders, dwarfed by their magnitude and surrounded by a landscape decorated with shades of oranges, browns and reds.
Accommodation consists of nine bungalows and one suite. These circular stone bungalows are dotted between the ochre-red boulders of the Damaraland landscape, partially built into the rocks themselves in places. Each one has a lovely shaded veranda in front and an open-air bathroom to one side.
In the centre of the camp lies a large alfresco dining area, bar, lounge and reception with an inviting fireplace nearby to relax beside in the evenings. A refreshing swimming pool and sunset lookout point complete the camp.
Camp Kipwe is in Damaraland, within the Twyfelfontein Conservancy. It is around five hours by road from Windhoek.

Etendeka Mountain Camp is a permanent camp, situated in the foothills of the Grootberg, below the north-western escarpment of Namibia. This region is home to black rhino, desert elephant as well as Hartmann’s mountain zebra, oryx, giraffe and several bird species endemic to Namibia. Accommodation is in 10 walk-in shaded tents with twin beds, en-suite facilities which consist of a bucket shower, flush w.c. and wash basin with hot and cold running water. Each tent has its own veranda. There is a large open-sided dining tent with a bar. Activities include nature walks and scenic drives.
This semi-mobile camp is set up in the remote Huab Conservancy in northern Damaraland. Found on the banks of the Huab River, its green canvas tents sit amongst the shade of mopane thickets. The area is remarkable for its population of desert-adapted black rhinos, which survive in spite of the harsh conditions.
Mowani Mountain Camp commands superb views over the ancient and rugged landscape of the Aba-Huab valley. The camp has been carefully designed to create the impression of an African village and the lodge itself is considered to be one of the finest in the Damaraland region of Namibia, which offers astounding desert scenery, fascinating geological formations and archaeological sites and an incomparable variety of desert flora and fauna.
