San Andres and Providencia Islands

Just over 800 kilometres northwest of Colombia’s Caribbean coast and only 150 kilometres east of Nicaragua lies a series of idyllic islets and cays with beaches, coral reefs and perfect, clear waters.

San Andres and Providencia, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2000, offer world-class diving, with pristine reefs and 30 metres of visibility.

You can hike in the green mountains or cycle the coastal paths of either island. Or, of course, simply unwind on one of the many stunning beaches. Both islands can get busy in holiday season and access can be difficult.

John put together a phenomenal itinerary to Colombia that included the Colombian Amazon, a place that we understand to be little visited. What a trip it was – you have made Steppes clients out of us, John.

Sailing around the Rosario Islands was not something we had even considered, but we are so grateful to John for putting this enchanting archipelago on our radar.

Our trip to Colombia and Peru, organised by James, exceeded all of our expectations! We travelled initially to see our eldest son who lives in California and then decided that (while close by) we would "nip" to Peru with the aim of visiting Machu Picchu, and onward to Colombia. A spectacular and memorable trip of a lifetime.
