The guides are excellent and the lodge’s other staff are all very hospitable, which is a trademark of Taj Safari in India. 29 villas and rooms, some with private plunge pools, offer fine touches with contemporary design. All rooms have a view overlooking the river and the Himalayan and Terai grasslands below. The public areas offer an infinity swimming pool, bar, lounge and river viewing deck dining. The chef specialises in traditional Newari and Tharu cuisine. The lodge organises a daily safari, elephant back riding, walking safaris and canoeing.

The beautiful Barahi Jungle Lodge offers comfortable surroundings with an amazing wildlife experience. The lodge has naturalists to accompany you on a jeep safari and jungle walks. The lodge cares for their own elephants, so the chance to witness the animals bathing in the river is a real possibility. The individual cottages, overlook the forest and are built using natural materials. The verandah looks out across the river. You might be lucky to spot a rhino from here. The large swimming pool also overlooks the river and reserve. The food is top-notch and bountiful and prepared to personal taste.
