Perched high above the town of Jomsom, at the gateway of the kingdom of Mustang, awaits Shinta Mani Mustang.

With dramatic landscapes and rich Buddhist culture, this property is surrounded by many monasteries and some of the highest snow-capped peaks in the world. This almost mythical region, hidden in the Kali Gandaki valley between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, is one of the deepest valleys and most unusual places in the world.

Shinta Mani Mustang is set to open its doors in May 2023.

Why we like Shinta Mani Mustang

Shinta Mani Mustang offers 29 environmentally friendly rooms based on traditional Tibetan homes. Each is designed with local materials such as stone, slate and wood, are adorned with locally-sourced, natural fabrics and have floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of the valley.

The designer of Shinta Mani Mustang, Bill Bensley, has been described by Architectural Digest as a ‘pioneer in sustainable hotel design’. This property has been curated to provide the most remarkable experience in the Himalayas. There is a 5-night minimum stay on an all-inclusive basis which includes excursions and experiences.

Sustainability

The Shinta Mani Foundation will be collaborating with the Sherpa Hospitality Group’s foundation, Pasang Lhamu Foundation, to provide benefits to the local community and environment of Mustang. Mustang is a remote and cut-off corner of the Himalayas; the people in this area will greatly benefit from the injection of cash, employment and opportunities that Shinta Mani Mustang will bring.

Shinta Mani Mustang is located in The Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang. Accessible either overland from Pokhara in five to six hours or by air into Jomson airport, following by a five minute drive to the hotel.
